Amanda Ling, MA

Author, Mentor, Musician, Multidisciplinary Healing Arts Practitioner

Amanda Ling is an author, multidisciplinary healing arts practitioner, and HeartMath™ Certified Trainer, assisting individuals and organisations in navigating their pathways beyond overwhelm and change. With over two decades of experience across music, education, yoga, sound healing, and decluttering, she brings a genuinely holistic approach that integrates creative expression, practical strategies, and wellness wisdom—both ancestral and modern. Her work is rooted in real, embodied experience: she has walked these paths herself and now guides others through theirs.

Based in Singapore, Amanda’s journey began with a Diploma in Contemporary Popular Music from LASALLE College of the Arts in 2004, establishing herself as a respected musician and DJ. She later earned an MA in Arts Pedagogy & Practice from Goldsmiths, University of London (2021), deepening her understanding of the intersection between arts, education, and wellbeing. Over the years, she has seamlessly merged music, facilitation, and wellness into immersive experiences that cultivate clarity, calm, and intentional living.

Her multifaceted career spans live performance, DJing, and sound healing. Since 2007, yoga has informed both her life and work, influencing her music and leading her to DJ at major Yoga+Music Festivals in Singapore. In 2015, she embraced sound healing, mastering Tibetan Singing Bowls through an apprenticeship with Akiko Igarashi and as a Senior Apprentice with Shima Healing, integrating energy and vibrational practices into her holistic offerings.

In 2018, Amanda became a KONMARI® Consultant, bringing tidying principles into her wellness work to address physical and mental clutter and promote organised, intentional living.

Using her ALIGN framework, now shared in her book, she guides individuals and teams to move from chaos to clarity, crafting experiences that harmonise inner wellbeing with outer environments.

Amanda has led integrated wellness talks and workshops, corporate sessions, festival experiences, and luxury retreats, blending experiential learning with heart-centred guidance. Her approach combines therapeutic modalities, creative expressive arts therapy, and practical reflection, empowering people to move past emotional, physical, and spiritual blocks to thrive with confidence and alignment.

Through her multidisciplinary expertise and deep, embodied presence, Amanda creates steady spaces that hold energetic depth with care and ease. Her facilitation is grounded in practicality, intention, and presence, allowing individuals and groups to feel safely supported as they explore self-discovery, holistic wellbeing, and meaningful personal transformation.

Teaching Philosophy and Research Interests

My approach to learning and teaching is grounded in the reflective and reflexive practice of experiential learning. I integrate embodied practices of sound healing, music, and wellness to empower holistic health. My research focuses on deepening the understanding of my identity as a musician, sound healing practitioner, and teacher, and how my work affects individuals and communities psychologically. My interests include anthropological perspectives of healing and sound, phenomenology, and transdisciplinary approaches. I believe that through reflective and reflexive practices, learners can critically examine their values and perspectives, informing and transforming their choices, actions, and experiences.

Thesis Abstract

Sound Self: An Inquiry into the Use of Sound to Affect Healing

Sound Healing, one of the oldest forms of healing, holds significant power in modern times. In today's fast-paced world and amidst a global pandemic, stress levels are soaring, impacting mental health and energy levels. My research explores how my sound healing sessions as a musician and practitioner influence healing and psychological states. Through self-inquiry questionnaires and interviews, I utilized a phenomenological approach to understand participants' embodied experiences and perspectives on stressors, healing, and the effects of sound healing sessions. The study involved a focus group of six individuals, combining sound healing with reflective expressive art activities. The findings revealed mental clarity, emotional release, and spiritual growth in participants, underscoring the efficacy of sound healing in promoting well-being. This ongoing journey of healing presents further opportunities for research and development, enhancing reflexivity within my practice.
